Pulse Safety & Community Guidelines

Pulse is a place for people who genuinely want to meet someone. Everyone here deserves respect, and everyone deserves to be safely, fully themselves. These guidelines are our shared promise to keep that true. Please take a moment to read them — and whenever something feels wrong, block or report it. We are always on your side.

These guidelines form part of the Pulse Terms of Service. Violations may result in action under Article 6 (Prohibited Acts) and Article 11 (Termination and Restriction of Use) of the Terms.

1. Treat each other with respect

Treat every member as a whole person. A lack of interest isn't a rejection — it's a choice. Take it lightly and move on.
If something you say or do makes someone uncomfortable, stop. One "no" or "please stop" is enough.
Differences — appearance, body type, race, nationality, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity — are never a reason to put someone down.
Be honest, but be kind. What we're all here for is a real connection.

2. Zero tolerance

The following will lead to a permanent ban — even on a single confirmed instance — and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement.

Harassment, threats, and stalking — repeated unwanted contact, intimidation, following someone, or anything meant to frighten.
Hate and discrimination — insults, slurs, dehumanization, or hateful conduct toward any group.
Sexual harassment and sexual misconduct — unwanted sexual messages, explicit images (especially non-consensual or unsolicited sexual content), or any sexual coercion.
Anything involving minors — Pulse is for adults only (18 and older, or 19 in Korea). The use of Pulse by a minor, and any content or contact that targets, sexualizes, or involves a minor, is absolutely prohibited and will be reported under applicable law.
Violence and self-harm — content that incites harm to others or encourages self-harm or suicide.
Privacy violations and doxxing — sharing someone's photos, conversations, contact details, or location without their consent.

3. No minors — adults only (18+, 19 in Korea)

Pulse is an adults-only service — you must be 18 or older (19 in Korea, 만 19세 이상) to use it.
If you are under the minimum age (18, or 19 in Korea), or if you suspect someone you're talking to is a minor, please report it right away.
Confirmed minor accounts are permanently removed immediately, and where a crime against a child is suspected, we report it to law enforcement under applicable law.

4. No scams, money requests, or sex work

Pulse is a place to meet people — not a place to make money or deceive anyone.

No money requests or romance scams — asking for money or anything of value, for any reason (an "emergency," an investment, a gift, a transfer, gift cards, crypto, and so on), is prohibited.
If someone asks you for money, don't send it — report it. A real connection will never ask you for money first. It's the single most common scam signal.
No sex work, "sugar"/"sponsor" arrangements, or solicitation — sexual transactions or their arrangement, in any form, are not allowed.
No advertising, promotion, or multi-level marketing — driving people to other services, spamming external links, or recruiting for schemes is prohibited.
Be wary of being pulled off-platform — if someone wants to move to another app or messenger right after matching, it's often a scam. Take your time getting to know people here on Pulse.

5. Your profile should be the real you

Use only your own recent photos. Photos of other people, celebrities, AI-generated images, or heavily altered photos may be treated as impersonation.
Don't misrepresent your identity, age, occupation, or relationships. A fake profile breaks trust, and it's grounds for action when found.
Face verification — Pulse uses a short selfie video to confirm you're really you (face-match powered by AWS Rekognition), which helps cut down on impersonation and fake accounts. Verification exists for safety, and it goes through its own separate consent.
About the heart-rate (rPPG) feature — Pulse's heart-rate feature is for entertainment and social fun. It is not a medical device, and it is not medical or relationship advice. Decide whether to meet someone based on your own judgment, not on a measurement.

6. Block and report whenever something feels off

Your safety comes first. If someone is making you uncomfortable, you don't have to put up with it.

Blocking

Choose Block from the menu on the person's profile or in your conversation.
Once blocked, that person can no longer see you or contact you, and they aren't told that you blocked them.

Reporting

Choose Report from the menu on a profile, conversation, or piece of content, and pick a reason.
If you can, a short note about what happened helps our review a lot. (Conversation content may be reviewed for this purpose.)
If you still feel uneasy after reporting, block them too. Your information as the reporter is never shown to the other person.

When a report comes in, our team reviews it and takes appropriate action — a warning, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban.

7. Meeting in person — please keep these in mind

The more exciting the meeting, the more safety matters.

For the first few times, meet in a busy public place (a café, a restaurant) during the day.
Arrange your own transport — don't get in their car or go straight to a private place such as a home or hotel.
Tell someone your plans — let a friend or family member you trust know who you're meeting, when, and where, in advance.
Keep an eye on your drink — don't leave a drink unattended, to guard against tampering.
No money, no financial details — don't lend or send money to someone you've just met, and don't share your bank or card information.
If you feel uncomfortable, leave right away. You don't owe anyone an explanation. Trust your instincts.

8. Enforcement and appeals

Violating these guidelines or the Terms of Service can lead to content removal, a warning, feature restrictions, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban, depending on severity.
Where necessary to protect safety or personal information, we may not share full details about the reason for an action (Terms, Article 11(3)).
Appeals — if you believe an action was a mistake, write to [privacy contact email] with your account information and we'll take another look.

9. Getting help

In the app — use the block and report tools, and the safety / support options in your settings menu.

In an emergency — if you feel you're in immediate danger, don't hesitate to contact your local emergency services first (in Korea, 112 for police or 119 for emergencies; in the US/CA, 911; in AU, 000). Your safety comes before any in-app report.
